EXHIBITION STATEMENT: FOREVER ORANGE is the culmination of Megan Shank’s art endeavors from her formative years as a teenager and young adult. Her next exhibition might very well be labeled, "Forever Orange" as well, whichever year that might be. Orange is loud and messy, like in the song, "Colors" by Kira Willey. Shank’s initials are M.E.S., and so that makes her ponder on how "messy" life can be. Megan says, “I know in my heart that I will always embrace this truth. As each new chapter of life presents itself, I will be here now to illustrate what I see. Art is my way of telling Life, "I love you."
ARTIST STATEMENT: My name is Megan Elizabeth Shank. I am Fort Wayne native, whose tendency is to express my perception and experience by drawing or painting. The current situation depicts which medium I use. My background includes learning from a great many teachers, especially in art, literature, and history. I attended Holy Cross from Kindergarten to Eighth Grade. I went to three different high schools, all in Fort Wayne: Homestead, Concordia, and graduated from Carroll. I attended art classes at The University of St. Francis. Intermittently, I took classes from private art tutors. I am excited to see how my style evolves as time goes by.
