Urban Garden
the garden
On the South side of our building, we prep, plant, maintain and harvest a “walk-around-food” urban garden. This garden exists to provide a healthy, free and easy food option for local homeless. Those in need are invited to come pick veggies which are ready to harvest. Intentionally, none of the grown veggies require any prep in order to be eaten. Thank you to Phyllie Farms for volunteering their counsel, donating seeds and donating one of our gorgeous new raised beds!
the work
Volunteers for our urban garden are essential to:
Plant starter seeds prior to planting season
Maintain the garden by watering, weeding and fertilizing
Harvest veggies
Deliver harvested veggies to Just Neighbors Homeless Shelter to aid families in crisis
get involved
Before even opening our doors in 2020, we successfully launched our urban garden - an initiative that provides months of freshly grown produce for some of our neighbors in need. Donated goods, volunteers and funds are essential to the urban garden’s continued success.
